SHI has joined UNGC as the first shipbuilder in Korea...Strengthening ESG management
Samsung Heavy Industries announced on 27 June that it has joined UN Global Compact for the first time in the shipbuilding industry to strengthen foundation for
compliance and sustainable management and foster internal and external trust in ESG management.
UNGC is the world's largest corporate sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiative under the United Nations, an international agreement that
allows companies to voluntarily internalize and uphold 10 core values in four areas including human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
SHI will comply with the 10 core values and transparently disclose various activities to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals through its annual
implementation report.
"SHI's joining of UNGC for the first time in the domestic shipbuilding industry shows our strong commitment to strengthening ESG management and practicing
social responsibility" said an official from SHI, "We will continue to enhance ESG management that meets global standards".
